One of our goals is to implement one of the Institute of Medicine’s recommendations to create a health care data repository. AL-HAC is committed to improving the nursing data collection and analysis. Prior to AL-HAC’s Baseline Metrics report published first in May 2015 and now available here, nursing workforce data in Alabama had not been interpreted for public reporting since Alabama’s Center for Nursing Excellence closed in 2009. We are excited to make this information available to you!
The Alabama Board of Nursing (ABN) provided data to AL-HAC from the 2012 and 2014 RN license renewal surveys and from the 2013 LPN license renewal survey. The data did not include any personal identifying information. We thank the ABN for allowing us to analyze this data and for their continued partnership!
The reports we put together provides a starting point for future workforce planning and comparison of RNs and LPNs demographics in Alabama to regional and national trends.
